Minister of Labor Continues to Inspect Factory Living and Working Conditions

PHNOM PENH: On his second day as Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, Heng Sour continued to visit factory workers in the Russey Keo District to better understand their living and working conditions as well as to hear their requests.

On August 24, Heng Sour inquired about living conditions in on-site living quarters as well as the working conditions and environment. He conducted one-on-one chats with the workers and took photos with them as well.

He introduced himself to the workers and encouraged them to see how their conditions had improved over the last five years.

"Most of you did not know who I am,” he said. “Thank you for the warm welcome and correspondence with me like a brother. Of course, your wishes are not 100% met, but compared to the last four to five years, you are much better off than before. The price of electricity and clean water now is cheaper than in 2018. Now, when you are very sick, you are not afraid to go to the hospital because you have an NSSF card and there is a hospital near your rented house or factory. ”

He emphasized that the improvements were made as a result of former prime minister Hun Sen’s leadership and his council of ministers. He promised that Cambodia would continue to move forward without going back.
